The LazaGrad Hack team has managed to carry out a large-scale hack that targeted dozens of cloud accounts belonging to US military officers and other relevant figures.
In addition, more financial accounts associated with it have been hacked, and thousands of records in its financial databases have been accessed on multiple sites.
The operation resulted in access to a huge set of sensitive data that includes: personal information, such as full names and dates, private photos saved on those accounts, and precise details about places and events associated with those individuals.
The hack was made using vulnerabilities found in the cloud systems adopted by these accounts, allowing us to fully access their contents without any hindrance. The data has been sorted and analyzed, and a small part of it is now being shown to show how strong we are in control of these systems.
This process is not just a targeting of individual vulnerabilities, but rather a message confirming the fragility of the security structure of the systems on which even the most sensitive parties, such as the US military, depend. What happened highlights the obvious gaps in the protection mechanisms used, which failed to secure sensitive data that could have significant impacts on personal and national security.
